18 things to success
We all have things to learn. Teaching is one of the most awesome, challenging and a rewarding professions you could go into. While being an apprentice, it is a great time to think outside of the box and somehow while doing it you could learn a lot. Here are the 18 awesome things I learned.
1. Find a mentor.
- Each apprentice needs a mentor. A mentor teaches you on how to do things right and well. My mentor has contributed a lot of efforts for me, she teaches me a lot of things and I really learned a lot of important things being a teacher.
2. Show confidence.
- We must show confidence everytime. Confidence is crucial for a great student teaching experience. My first encounter with the students felt awkward and so unsure of myself but with the help of my supervisor, I learned how to keep the worries and show my confidence so no students and any other people could bring you down.
3. If the students aren't responding, do something different.
- We could not erase the fact that the attentions of the students will last long, so when you feel something is different and only few of your students are listening, do some energizer or games that could divert their attentions to you. In that way they could pay attention on you again.
4. Prepare for the unexpected.
- You never know what's going to happen. We must always have a plan B. I realized that I needed to be prepared as much as possible, but, more importantly, I needed to be flexible.
5. Assume for the best.
- The most important strategy when teaching and communicating in general, is to assume for the best, but still we must do after quizzes so we could compute their MPS and see how they understand the lesson.
6. We must never underestimate the intelligence of the students.
- Students may be stubborn sometimes, still we must not underestimate their intelligence because we do not know how fast they understands and how quickly they answer or simply we cannot tell how high or low their IQ is.
7. Be neat and clean.
- Being a teacher, you must be neat and clean, because you are a model to your students.
8. Have patience.
- Having a long patience could help you a lot because most of the students are stubborn and hard headed so patience is really needed.
9. Be understanding.
- Every students have the right to be understood by the teacher. Because a teacher is our second mom.
10. Love your work
- When you love your work, you'll be inspired to do well. The only thing that could help you to survive is loving your work.
11. Be punctual.
- You must arrive on time, being early is the best because it is a part of your job.
12. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
- Asking questions is not bad, it can actually help you to correct what's wrong and you can perfectly do your job.
13. Care about your students.
- I learned that teachers must care and love their students because they need to look out for their students, they could help them with their problems.
14. The students learning reflects on the work of the teacher.
- If you teach them poorly, they will learn poorly. The learnings of the students reflects on how you teach it. So the teachers are striving hard to thought the students well.
15. Study hard.
- Not only the students are studying but also the teachers. They will study their lessons before teaching it, in this way both of the students and the teacher know what they are listening and talking.
16. Strive hard for success.
- There is no easy job in this world, we must strive hard to get what we want, because what we reap is what we sow.
17. Learn how to use technology and stuff.
- In this generation technology is everywhere, every work demands technology. Even the grading system is electronic based. So learning it could be great help.
18. Teaching is the most rewarding job you will ever have.
- On my last day, my students hugged me tight and begged me not to go, it was a heartfelt moment, because I knew I had changed my life and theirs. To every teacher out there, thank you for letting me be a part of your world for a short period of time. It has inspired me to be a better person in all aspects of my life.
